About Manuela
Being an incoming student in college, I have just recently left the K-12 learning environment and am extremely suitable to help students in those grades get the boost they need outside of that structure with different learning tools most suited to your needs. More specifically, I aim to tutor in Math and Science areas where I have performed my best at, will continue higher education in Biology, and have helped my peers and others learn. Throughout high school, I have taken advanced classes, including AP Biology and Calculus. Therefore, I understand how difficult it can be to learn at a faster pace and have peers feeling this way. For this reason, I have not only learned to adapt to my own learning needs, but also those of my peers who have needed guidance. In this way, I have been able to help my peers learn about titration, the cell cycle, volume revolutions, and more. On the other hand, I have volunteered with a school club to tutor elementary school children fundamental science ideas like tension and friction. This club gave me critical skills needed to help younger kids learn and enjoy science.

Normally when helping people learn, I like to start with the foundation to see if we are missing anything in the understanding of the content or in how we approach a subject. From there, I like to talk through what has worked in the past with older people or ask questions about the subject for younger students. This way, I can understand where the missing steps are for that lesson regardless of age or subject. After that, I believe tutoring must be very student-based instead of tutor-based; in other words, adapt to my students needs instead of staying in my level of comfort.
Due to my age, I think I am in the perfect position to help school-aged students feel more comfortable and get help from someone who grew up in a similar education system. I am always open to talking to you about your or your child’s needs and go from there.
