About Lili
I am an undergraduate pursuing a BA in Geography, with expertise building in human geography areas such as UK economic imbalances, localism, devolution, and labour geography. Living in Newcastle, I manage a demanding schedule that includes part-time shifts at, sharpening my time management and clear communication skills under pressure. I want to teach geography to share my enthusiasm for connecting theoretical concepts—like spatial data analysis and policy case studies—to practical, real-world issues that affect regions like the UK. Tutoring appeals to me because it allows one-on-one, peer-level support where I can adapt explanations to students’ needs, break down exam questions, and build their confidence using my own academic toolkit. I would make a strong geography tutor because my BA Geography degree gives me a solid grounding in both human and physical geography, as well as the ability to think spatially across different scales and use maps, data and case studies effectively. Through my degree, I have developed strong communication skills, including explaining complex ideas clearly and building reasoned arguments, which are essential for helping students grasp challenging topics and exam questions. Studying geography has also trained me in critical thinking and problem solving, so I can break down difficult concepts, identify where a student is struggling, and adapt explanations to their learning style. On top of this, tutoring works particularly well when it is one-to-one and peer-based, as students often feel more comfortable asking questions and can benefit from personalised support that consolidates their learning and boosts confidence.
