About James
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Sydney studying Linguistics and Philosophy. I hope to go on to complete a PhD in Linguistic Typology and help document and revitalise endangered languages.
I have been learning Japanese for 8 years and enjoy reading Japanese fiction from authors such as Isaka Kotoro, Murakami Haruki, and Mori Ogai.
I also enjoy sports and am the president of the University's table tennis club. I enjoy watching the Japanese T-League and practicing the concept of心技体 (heart, skill, body) to improve upon myself and my skills.

Lessons should be driven by building up a student's confidence and giving them the ability to be self critical. Furthermore, a strong emphasis on basics will allow them to respond to various situations and enjoy their learning.
Learning a language is teaching yourself how to think differently, as well as engage with another culture and way of seeing the world. By appealing the cultural aspects of Japan as well as teaching the language, the student will receive a more wholisitic and fufilling experience.
