About Lucy

Hello! I am a junior majoring in economics with coursework in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and statistics. I have experience in education across several years, most recently as a STEM Lead Instructor. In that role I worked with students one-on-one while managing a classroom of ten students. Through my math and economics coursework, I've gained a deep understanding of applied math and mathematical theory. Combined with my experience as a teacher, this allows me to support students in elementary, middle, and high school. I know what it’s like to struggle in math at first while eventually gaining a deeper understanding, giving me a deeper insight into the struggles students experience. I am patient and understanding, and look forward to working with you!

About the lesson

As a student myself, I know how challenging it can be to grasp complex material, especially when you feel like you're missing something foundational. Therefore, my tutoring takes a methodical, student-first approach where I seek to identify gaps in foundational knowledge to help students develop a deep conceptual understanding. I will always guide students to the answer rather than telling it to them, giving students a stronger understanding of the fundamentals and the ability to solve problems independently, preparing them for success long after our tutoring session is over.

I tutor students K-12 in elementary school math, pre-algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra. I hope to help students improve their mathematical skills while having fun in our sessions. Whatever your goals, I hope I will help you learn to love math!
