About Grace
I am currently a student at university studying Liberal Arts. I myself, totally struggled in high school when it came to learning as I was more reserved and found it hard to ask for help in class. However, it was through tutors that I was able to have an individual focus on my limitations which allowed me to thrive in school and my academics to improve. Ultimately, it was through the encouragement of tutors that I felt more confident to ask for help. In turn this allowed me to get the grades that I needed to ultimately get where I am now. In a full circle moment, I was inspired to be a tutor as sometimes all a tutee needs is a little encouragement and challenge to really thrive.

My personal approach to tutoring includes encouragement and expansion. As a tutor my role includes expanding the knowledge that a tutee acquires at school but also ensuring that the tutee actually understands what they learn. More specifically, my approach focuses on encouraging the tutee that their ideas are valid but will help harness those ideas to ensure that they align with what is expected of them according to their exam board. A typical lesson lasts for around an hour and a half. As this is the ideal length for a tutee to actually be engaged. The first few sessions would be having a rough idea of the tutee's strengths and limitations, discussing where the tutee struggles. From there, I will create sessions which focus on the tutee’s struggles, creating resources which are centred around those limitations to help challenge and encourage the tutee. I have had experience as a tutor before in a range of subjects, with English literature being my strongest. I typically tutor high school students from year 7 - year 11, in which I help assist with more individual areas of concern. For example, helping a year 11 student interlink context into their essay writing. I have had success as a private tutor, still having a positive communication between families who were happy to be my references with other agencies.
