About Chris

I have privately tutored for more than a year now. I have tutored students from various levels in their undergraduate studies.

I am proficient in statistics, having tutored students from understanding the statistical concepts to conducting their own data analysis. I can offer assistance in using your preferred statistical software such as SPSS. RStudio, Jamovi, JASP, and more.

I can offer help understanding your psychology assignments (No assignment writing requests please!). Often, your 2000 word assignment might seem daunting! You can count on me to help you simplify your assignment planning process, understand the marking criteria, and actually writing it!

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Chris and I am a tutor in Psychology. If you're a student stuck on academic writing, APA formatting, assignment planning, understanding statistics, using statistical software, lecture content, you have come to the right place!

My teaching methods are quite hands-on and informal. My teaching style is to help you understand difficult concepts by breaking them down into simpler concepts. I am also a flexible tutor to suit different learning styles. With me, you will have access to various helpful sources that I'd share to help you excel!

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I started to find interest in psychology from a fairly young age. As like any other curious kid, I wanted to know how things or people work. I started private tutoring to spread my desire for curiosity to others.
Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach students to have metacognitive skills that is learning skills to learn concepts, as this helps students further down the line.
Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
A particular role model would be my high school biology teacher that reminded me that no matter how much knowledge you have earned, none of it is useful if we cannot transfer it into practice.
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
To be a good tutor, one must possess several qualities, including subject matter expertise, effective communication skills, patience, adaptability, creativity, and a passion for teaching and helping others succeed.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
"God help those who help themselves". Although I am not a religious person, I believe each person has the ability to fulfil their goals but they have to take the first step.
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?
Academic subjects can be challenging for many students, and the difficulties they face can vary depending on their individual learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses. However, with the right support and guidance, students can overcome these challenges and achieve academic success.
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
My passion would be teaching statistics and seeing the student finally understand the concept they're trying to learn is really gratifying.

I am patient, detail oriented, and organised person. Count on me to have structure around the chaos.
