About Shivay

Hi! I am a third year Economics student at University and here to help students ace their exams. I love Economics and Maths. The fact that a small change in the economy can have such dramatic knock-on effects is fascinating. Looking at the reasons behind these occurrences, and the mathematical interpretations of the concepts sparked my interest in pursuing Economics as a degree.

My experience with studies at school had been quite interesting. Having performed well at GCSE's, A levels was a completely different story. I did not have a teacher for half the Economics course meaning a lot of self-study had to be done. I had to work a lot harder and get a good grasp of knowledge in time for A level exams. With a lot of practice and many hours spent revising, I was able to come out the exam feeling relieved. From tutoring on this platform, this is a way for me to help students who may be struggling, in a similar way to myself, or students that require tips and tricks to get top marks.

Applying to University went smoothly for me. I applied early, and with the guidance of school teachers the whole process was made easy. If your grades are on track to meet your universities requirements and you show clear interest in your subject, you can get an offer from any university.

About the lesson

When it comes to Economics, the way I would structure my online lessons is providing clear and thorough notes. By going through the notes with the students we can then work on attempting to link the concepts to real world examples, which I personally believe is the best way to help remember difficult topics, but also a great way of applying knowledge to get top marks.

The learning style that works well for economics is practice practice practice! The exams follow a similar structure each year and it is about mastering the content but also mastering the writing technique, which can be done through essay plans and practice. This worked extremely well for me at school. Creating my own questions with essay plans having two sides of a balanced argument, which I'd recite and remember, in time for the exams.
