About Alice

Hi, my name is Alice, and I'm a PhD graduate (and teaching supervisor) in Geography and Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. I am currently based in Oxford, where I may be able to tutor in-person.

I have a strong track record of helping students achieve their best, based on seven years working as a private tutor, and two years supervising undergraduates on the Cambridge BA Geography course. I have good knowledge of the A-Level examination structure and system as a whole. I also received first-class marks for all three years of my Cambridge BA, and came 2nd in my cohort of 102 students. As a tutor, I am friendly, patient and engaging. As several of my students have come to me with specific additional learning needs, I am experienced in helping students with ADHD and dyslexia.

Having gained admission to the University of Cambridge from a state school, I also feel both confident and able to assist with the Oxbridge Admissions process for Humanities and Social Science subjects. This extends up to interview advice and practice, personal statement assistance, and guiding you through the application process. If you have any further questions, do feel free to message me. About the lesson

Building on my professional experience as a supervisor at the University of Cambridge, my lessons are highly interactive, and build on close reading and feedback of a sample of the student's written work (practice questions, extended essay, etc). The discussion will be open, extend beyond the immediate curriculum wherever beneficial and relevant, and I use an interactive whiteboard tool, which will be emailed to students as a PDF after each lesson for their records, and revision. I assign practice questions after each session, which will be marked and returned to the student before the next class.

We gave a suggested topic to cover at the last minute and she turned up with slides full of densely written notes, a world of difference from the hand waving approach at school. She was full of good advice and encouragement. A rare find. Could not recommend more highly.

Alice was AMAZING!!!!

She was extremely flexible and kind. Our time zones were flipped and Alice was extremely helpful she stayed until late to help me, which I greatly appreciated. I am from the United States and she helped me to study for my AICE exam, a program used in the states for scholarships. She would give me practice questions and even allowed for two hour sessions! One of the best tutors I have had in a while. She helped me gain so much confidence in the material I was working with. Alice was AMAZING!!!!

She was extremely flexible and kind. Our time zones were flipped and Alice was extremely helpful she stayed until late to help me, which I greatly appreciated.
