About Alexandra

I am a recent graduate of the University of Nottingham with a BA in Classics and over 3 years of tutoring experience. I specialise in GCSE English Literature, English Language and History, helping students build confidence, improve their essay technique and achieve their academic goals.

Having studied English Literature, English Language and History myself, I understand the challenges students face at GCSE and the importance of knowing not only what to revise, but how to turn that knowledge into strong exam answers. My Classics degree has also developed my skills in close textual analysis, essay writing and constructing clear, well-supported arguments; skills which are highly transferable to GCSE English and History.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student and their specific goals. Before beginning, I make sure I understand which areas they find difficult and what they would like to improve.

Depending on the student's needs, lessons may include:

• Building and revising quote banks, with detailed analysis of language, themes and context
• Developing essay plans and improving exam technique
• Working through GCSE past-paper questions
• Marking and discussing practice answers
• Reviewing teacher feedback and identifying exactly how marks can be improved
• Breaking down difficult texts, characters and themes
• Developing confidence in structuring clear, analytical and well-supported arguments

I want students to leave each lesson feeling that they understand not only the material, but how to use it effectively in an exam.
