About Joe
After graduating with a BA and MSt from Oxford, I worked as a youth worker, supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to find work, housing and qualifications. I'm also currently working as a Heritage Assistant at Wigan Museum.
I believe that learning should be supportive, nurturing and fun. I love teaching, and I also love motivating young people to feel more confident and believe in themselves.

Bespoke, 1-2-1 sessions for all ability levels, for 14 - 25 year olds, preparing for GCSE, A-Level and University applications.
I focus on creating engaging and entertaining sessions which challenge my students and encourage them to succeed. I always begin by checking with my students to identify what they feel they need support with, and how best to focus on this. Tutorials consist of discussions, guided work and exercises in essay question writing or creative writing.
Sessions last from 1 to 2 hours, and can either be one-off sessions or as part of a longer teaching programme.
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience, supporting students to exceed grade expectations at GCSE and receive offers from Russell Group Universities. I've delivered academic papers in English Literature at conferences at the University of Oxford and St Andrews, as well as creative writing workshops.
