About Daniel

My name is Daniel, and I am an Economics and Politics teacher at a leading sixth form college in London. I am passionate about making complex ideas accessible, engaging, and relevant — helping students not just master the syllabus but truly understand how the world works.

After completing my undergraduate degree at University College London (UCL), I moved to Tokyo to study Japanese and began teaching, where I discovered my love for breaking down challenging concepts into clear and memorable lessons. I later completed a master’s degree at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) during the pandemic, before formally training as a teacher and starting my career in sixth form education.

I am now completing a master’s in education at University of Oxford, where my research focuses on how controversial issues are taught within the A-Level Economics and Politics curriculum — deepening my expertise in pedagogy and curriculum design.

I have a proven track record of success: many of my students achieve A* and A grades in Economics and Politics, progressing to highly competitive degree courses at top universities. My lessons focus on building strong subject knowledge, exam confidence, and a genuine passion for the social sciences.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology
I believe that the social sciences — Economics and Politics — should be taught as contemporary, engaging, and relevant subjects. To achieve this, I use real-world examples from leading news outlets such as The Financial Times and The Guardian, alongside recent reports and case studies. This approach not only brings lessons to life but also improves students’ ability to analyse and interpret the types of sources they will encounter in their exams.

My lessons are carefully structured to balance subject knowledge and exam technique. A typical 60-minute session includes:

Retrieval tasks to strengthen memory and recall of previous content

Clear and focused content delivery, breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable parts

Discussion and debate, encouraging students to think critically and apply concepts to real-world issues

Exam practice and feedback, with a focus on Assessment Objectives and what examiners are really looking for

As an Edexcel examiner, I bring insider knowledge of the exam process, helping students to understand how to write top-band answers and avoid common pitfalls. This means I can give precise, actionable feedback that directly improves performance.

My lessons are aimed at ambitious A-Level students who want more than just a grade — those who want to understand the broader context of Economics and Politics and see why these subjects matter in the real world. Many of my students achieve A and A grades* and go on to study at highly competitive universities.
