About Jill
I have four decades of experience in university teaching, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I've been responsible for curriculum development, and admissions review. I've also published two books, one with an academic press, and many essays and book reviews. Though I taught in a school of architecture, I offered classes in literature and creative writing, in both prose and poetry. I believe that language is the key to addressing the world critically and responsibly, and that everyone has the capacity to write effectively, and to inspire others through their writing.

We will start by assessing your goals, strengths and weaknesses. I will provide examples of good and flawed writing, and we will analyze these together. Assignments will be designed in series to build confidence, and (if desired) to draw out your own style. If you are writing college or graduate school application essays, I will provide expertise on how to stand out in a competitive field.
