Hi, I’m thrilled to support you on your journey to mastering Japanese! Choosing the right tutor is essential for success, and I’m here to ensure you reach your goals. With over 3 years of experience tutoring Japanese, I’m confident in guiding learners at all levels. As a native speaker born and raised in Japan and currently studying at QUT, I bring not only expertise but also a patient, friendly, and outgoing approach with a positive attitude. I’m the perfect teacher to help you excel!!

About the lesson

I offer lessons only on Zoom.

Your lessons will be customized to match your Japanese level and specific learning objectives.

For Beginners:
We’ll start by mastering the pronunciation and writing of each hiragana and katakana character. I’ll assign targeted homework after each lesson to help you quickly memorize them. At the beginning of each session, we’ll review your progress with a quick quiz. For those planning to travel, our focus will include essential phrases and memorizing hiragana and katakana so you can confidently read signs and menus in Japan and engage in basic conversations.

For Intermediate and Advanced Learners:
I will select a Japanese textbook tailored to your specific goals, and we’ll base our lessons on it to ensure your success. I’ll help you strengthen specific areas, whether it’s speaking, reading, writing, listening or any other aspect of the language. For those preparing for study abroad or working holidays, in addition to mastering hiragana and katakana, we’ll focus on learning basic kanji and essential grammar. Effective homework will be provided after each lesson to ensure consistent progress.

Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Preparation:
I can also assist you in preparing for the JLPT, ensuring you’re well-equipped to achieve your desired certification level.

Perfect! Always a great lesson with Marino!! She helps target my weak points in Japanese learning, and I’m retaining a lot more information than ever before. We go through Genki and kanji textbooks, as well as other fun activities. Highly recommend :)

Perfect! Ive been studying with Marino over the past couple of months and the experience has been great, she's great at explaining concepts, helps when I mispronounce difficult words and is extremely patient with me when I'm having trouble with the content we are tackling.
She's always open to explaining any curiosities you have and will often test you throughout the lessons to see if you retain the information as well.

Each lesson keeps me motivated to continue learning more Japanese and I look forward to them every time; sometimes the favourite part of the week for me.

I plan to keep being taught by her for the foreseeable future because I enjoy her way of teaching and is very accommodating.

I met Marino though Superprof when I was looking for a Japanese tutor, she has been helping me through the basics and genki textbooks and its been a wonderful experience. She's patient on the topics i am struggling with and is very good at breaking down complicated topics in to a more understandable way. She is very accomodating and is always there to correct my pronounciation while also giving an good amount of things to do after my lesson. As a beginner myself I highly recommend her as my Japanese has improved alot and has helped me keep motivated with my studies.
