My teaching approach emphasizes rhythm as a central tool for developing timing, energy, and groove in singing. I help students feel the pulse of the music through techniques like beat subdivision, syncopation, and rhythmic phrasing across genres such as gospel, funk, and jazz. Rhythm becomes a guide for expressive singing and precise vocal control. I incorporate body movement, clapping, and foot tapping to help students internalize beats and patterns. For those who connect through movement or emotional release, I create exercises that let rhythm drive vocal expression and energy. Improvisation and instinctive phrasing are encouraged to build creativity and confidence in real-time performance. In gospel, we explore call-and-response, dynamic energy, and expressive timing. Funk and jazz lessons focus on groove, swing feel, and syncopated phrasing. I also use metronome practice and looped backing tracks to strengthen consistency and rhythmic accuracy. This approach nurtures both technical precision and soulful musicality. Students learn to enter confidently on the beat, sustain energy, and shape rhythmic phrases naturally. By integrating rhythm, movement, and emotional connection, singers develop greater presence, expressive freedom, and artistic instinct.

About the lesson

I am a passionate singing tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Voice emphasis. I am dedicated to helping students build strong vocal foundations, particularly those preparing for vocal exams, diplomas, and conservatory auditions. My teaching covers a range of genres, including Classical, Opera, Art Song, and Contemporary Vocal.

I focus on developing precise tone placement and controlled resonance, ensuring each student’s voice is both healthy and expressive. IPA diction training is central to my lessons, enabling clarity and accuracy across languages and styles. Phrasing and musical interpretation are emphasized to cultivate expressive, stylistically informed performances.

Each lesson is carefully structured to balance technical exercises with repertoire practice, promoting consistent growth. I guide students through breath control, vocal agility, and dynamic expression with personalized attention. Whether mastering a Baroque aria or exploring modern contemporary pieces, my approach supports both technical mastery and artistic development.

I aim to create a learning environment that is disciplined yet encouraging, where progress is measurable and creativity is nurtured. Students gain confidence in their abilities while developing a strong sense of musicality. My goal is to help singers achieve technical precision, deepen musical understanding, and embrace artistic discipline. With dedication and focus, every student can reach their full vocal potential.
