About Merin
I'm a student attending University of Toronto, working towards a Bachelor's of Science. I have plenty of experience teaching young adults, with my most recent being at University of Toronto as a first-year biology teaching assistant. I also have tons of camp experience, so I feel a though I can be a positive emotional and academic influence :) I want to become a high school teacher some day, and it is very important to me that I continue to practise and hone my skill set so that I can further benefit my current and future students.

I aspire to employ a student-centred approach, a method that is heavily researched, that will prioritize students and enable them to dictate their learning path. This will ensure that the student's needs are met, and that they leave the session with a solid understanding of the topic(s) at hand. I also plan to use active recall and spaced retrieval practise, both of which enrich the learning experience and are also backed by pedagogical research. I don't see learning as solely an academic endeavour but rather an effort that is heavily shaped by the individual themselves, with their mental and emotional health playing a huge role. As a result, as a tutor/teacher, I vow to always uplift and support my students in what-ever way I can. This mindset I believe will lend for a positive learning experience.
