About Elia
In 2019, I worked as an English as a Second Language teacher in rural Myanmar, developing and delivering an SAT-level English curriculum.
In college, I acted as a tutor to younger students and my peers and won awards for my research and writing. Last year, a history paper I wrote was published in an academic journal and I presented it at a conference to 50+ scholars in Toronto.
Currently, I work as a humanities tutor and essay reviewer in my free time for a large online tutoring service serving K-12 students, though I also have experience working with college students.

My approach to tutoring is to meet the student where they’re at. I start by asking specific questions to identify what each student is struggling with, before providing just enough help to allow the student to get on the right track to make important connections for themselves.
For essays, I approach each piece of writing first and foremost from a holistic point of view before focusing on the mechanics. I aim to help students become better, more confident writers in the long term.
No matter if you have specific questions you need cleared up before an exam, if you need a concept or topic explained in more detail, or just need someone to help you while you work through an essay, I can help. I look forward to hearing from you.
