About Adam

Bachelors of Computer Science, University of Toronto. Have mentored over 70 Canadian students, 6 of which have secured full scholarships at the University of Waterloo, and 3 got partial scholarships at the University of Toronto. Trained almost 400 American students, most of them are now proudly in Ivy League universities.

About the lesson

The lessons are designed to train students aiming for partial or full scholarships by excelling in the Canadian Computing Competition (CCC), primarily using C++ for senior students, and Java/Python for junior students.

For USACO preparation, the lessons minimize theory and focus on practical training through solving past exams and carefully selected problems.

For AP Computer Science, roughly half of the course covers theory and fundamentals, while the other half focuses on solving all past exams. Over 95% of my students score a 5 on the AP exam.

Perfect! Adam has been an awesome tutor for competitive programming. He has a clear plan for the whole year, so every session builds toward something and I always know where I'm headed. Sessions are tight and focused, with a clear goal each time, so I get a lot out of every hour. Instead of just lecturing, he asks me questions and lets me work through the logic myself, which makes it click way better than just being told the answer. He oftem asks me to do timed practice like a real contest, which makes it fun and gets me ready for the actual competitions. I've learned a ton from him.

Usually the problem which most students face in geometry is that they lack creativity. Cormac's ability to imagine constructs in his head is quite impressive, especially for someone of his age. In fact, he solved one of the questions by coming up with an imaginary construct that was quite simpler and more efficient than the one I used. Unfortunately, in school he had been pushed to just memorise rules and apply. He has the potential to join local competitions within 2 years if he joins a school that prioritises creative thinking over the classical analytical approach.
