About Ryan
I received my Bachelor of Musicology which is the study and history of music. In this modern age. I embrace technology as it is a fantastic tool to be able to record, multitrack and understand the workings of sound equipment and tools allowing yourself to mix your PC skills with a piano. keyboard or guitar and explore multitrack recording all from the comfort of your own room, Gone are the days of piles of books and and you could very well record your own demo on your PC that rivals professional studios. In this day and age music is exciting but before you start punching buttons and playing with sounds endlessly some discipline must be practiced to understand the instrument and be able to swiftly move on to the next note. That's practice. But remember you' be learning your favorite songs! I also specialize in digital recording and production which means recording and playing to backup tracks is a possibility.

Although the fundamentals of theory are important when understanding and recognizing instructions my technique is more pragmatic and taps into the soul of which music embodies. I teach my students to feel the music and encourage them on our first lesson to name a song they love and concentrate on learning that. The simplest melody when played with soul can elicit a tear and I believe that is the key to becoming a good musician and persevering through lessons. It has to be fun, relaxing and enjoyable.

He has a unique way to teaching to any othertutor I've used. He asks me what I want to learn and instead of learning off by heart or reading sheet music he has taught me to find the next note of a song I want to learn by ear just by humming it and then working out how much higher on the keyboard it would be. So at home I can work out a song quite easily!
