About Ethan
I achieved a perfect 50 in General Maths (Top 0.2% of Victoria), 45 in both Specialist Maths and Maths Methods (Top 2%), and an ATAR of 99.70 (Top 0.3%). I've also earned High Distinctions in the Australian Mathematics Competition three years running and a High Distinction in the Mathematical Olympiad — maths is something I've pursued and excelled at well beyond the classroom.
I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine at Monash University (2026–2030), and I tutor privately alongside my studies.
I know VCE Maths from the inside — the exact question styles, the mark allocation logic, and the reasoning that separates a 40 from a 50. Maths is a language — once you understand its logic, everything connects. My job is to make that logic visible.
I start every new student relationship with a diagnostic session to map out exactly where the gaps are, so we don't waste time on things you already know. From there, every lesson is tailored to your level and what you're working towards.
I teach with colour-coded working so you can visually track different algebraic streams through a problem without losing the thread. I use diagrams for everything — function graphs, transformations, probability trees, calculus curves — because seeing the shape of a problem solves half of it. I also focus on pattern recognition, training you to identify question types quickly so you know your approach before you've finished reading.
For Year 7–10 students, lessons focus on building strong conceptual foundations across number and algebra, geometry, measurement, and statistics — aligned to the Australian Curriculum and paced to your school's program. For VCE students, lessons are structured around your study score target: foundation-building for students in the 30s, exam technique and targeted drilling for students pushing into the 40s, and the hardest questions combined with time pressure simulation for students chasing 45–50.
Every lesson includes real exam questions, marking scheme analysis, and a review of the most common errors students make at your level. Between-session questions are always welcome at no extra charge.
Sessions run 2 hours (standard) or 3 hours (intensive). Available evenings and weekends.
