About Valen

With 8 years of teaching and professional music experience, I am a passionate violin tutor dedicated to helping students achieve technical mastery, musical expression, and self-confidence. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.

One of the most meaningful milestones in my career has been guiding students from struggling with technique, posture, or stage confidence to confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and musical interpretation. My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance.

I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of music. Lessons are customised to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a patient, supportive, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and reach their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to cultivate confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music in every student.

About the lesson

I teach violin with a methodology based on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create well-rounded musicians who are technically proficient, expressive, and confident. Lessons are personalised to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, combining structured technical exercises, creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.

Motivation drives progress. I help students set achievable goals, track progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering perseverance, engagement, self-confidence, and a love for learning music.

Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive, allowing students to share challenges, ask questions, and explore ideas freely.

Creativity is a key component. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises help students develop their artistic voice and strengthen their emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, cultivating habits that support consistent progress and long-term excellence.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and piano, giving students a holistic musical foundation.
