About Darya

I am a fully qualified secondary teacher with a BA in English Literature who is currently working in a secondary school. Additionally, I am an AQA marker which gives me insight into the current demands of the subject and the process of exams. I have experience teaching the new English Language and Literature GCSE syllabi, having prepared students for these exams for the past two years with a high success rate. I have also taken classes that are re-taking their GCSE exams.

I didn’t find school easy and English is my second language (I speak Farsi); it is this that drives my desire to demystify GCSEs for students and help them to understand and execute what is needed to reach their target grade. I listen to student and parent wants, needs, and desires in order to create an individualised plan of study so that students are able to visibly see their own progress. By placing a high value on the teacher-student relationship, I try to build students' character traits such as resilience and confidence through my teaching.
