About Katie

Katie has over 10 years of experience in teaching violin, piano, and music theory and uses a student-centred approach to build self-confidence and to maintain the student's enjoyment of learning a musical instrument! Katie is also a very proficient performer and holds a Masters in Violin Performance (with Distinction) from the Royal Northern College of Music, and an AMusTCL Music Theory Diploma (with Distinction), and has performed in concert halls all over the UK and internationally!

About the lesson

Katie welcomes students of all abilities and ages, and is happy to teach lessons online or in person! Katie has predominantly trained in Classical music, but is also happy to work on pieces in other styles and genres should a student wish to! Likewise, she is happy to work on ABRSM graded exams or not depending on the student's goals and wishes! Katie is flexible in her approach as she recognises that every person is unique and has different aims, and so requires different teaching techniques - she believes that every student should leave their lesson feeling fulfilled and having enjoyed their learning! Katie is an excellent music teacher. she is also an extremely skilled performer. I have seen her teach the violin, the piano and the harp. Her teaching is thoughtful and intuitive to the pupils' needs. She is always very well prepared for each student's lesson, keeping notes from the previous lesson and creating fulfilling and rewarding learning experiences. I know from experience that Katie's pupils achieve very highly in their exams, and also in terms of personal fulfilment and their love of music..
I recommend Katie very highly indeed.
