About Ed
Violinist of 20 years with 10 years orchestra experience. I've also worked with some Indian musicians. I'm quickly adaptable to and familiar with all sorts of styles with a specialism for improvisation. I'm a people person and easy to talk to. I was taught by the ex lead violinist of the award-winning Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra who was in that position for 20 years odd. Over the years I've had good teachers and awful, awful teachers - I will guarantee we will have a good time and get along as equals. I have no time for nasty teachers! Styles I'm personally interested in playing include classical music, Indian classical music, gypsy jazz, Arabic classical music, Ethiopian jazz, reggae, even some electronic music.

If you are learning violin through the grading system I will be happy to help you learn the syllabus. I can also help you learn your orchestra parts. I'm an intuitive person, and believe in the importance of training your ear so you can learn a tune just by listening. I can help you learn how to improvise and explore different styles of music; whatever takes your fancy. The lessons can be however long you want them to be. I also believe that learning happens fastest when you are actively enjoying what you are doing, so will try and facilitate that! We can have an initial consultation and figure out how I can help - we can do lessons online, or I can visit you or you visit me (I'm located in Leith).
