About Kate

I have been teaching in various formats since I was a junior in high school, which was a very long time ago!
Chances are, I’ve worked with a learning style like yours before.
Outside of teaching piano, I have been a collaborative artist, playing in various ensembles, as a solo artist, in competitive and entertainment formats, assisted as an accompanist, and succeeded as a small business owner. Professionalism, compassion, and flexibility are hard-wired into my approach to student learning.

About the lesson

My teaching method is almost entirely student-lead. I have a sincere believe that my job as “teacher” is to be a partner and guide for my students’ music learning journey.
I am happy to walk alongside the students that benefit greatly from a structured music program and curriculum, helping them on a measured path towards success.
I am happiest when I find a student that needs to step off the path and create their own learning journey! This is what sets me apart as a piano teacher: someone who is always on board with meeting my students where they are in their learning path and guiding them along the way.
I have the experience and comfort to teach piano at all music and skill levels. My sweet spot is the young or early beginner that needs a Montessori-like teaching approach where we work together to develop a natural love for music versus a traditional teaching method.
