About Ami
I was born and raised in Japan, where I completed 10 years of schooling in the Japanese education system. Japanese is my first language, and I’m also fluent in English, so I can explain grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuance clearly in whichever language helps you most.
I’m currently studying biochemistry at a four-year university. My science studies have trained me to break complex ideas into clear, logical steps, and I bring that same approach to teaching Japanese. Instead of making you memorize rules blindly, I’ll show you how the language works so it makes sense and sticks.
Because I grew up in Japan, I can teach you more than what’s in the textbook: how people actually speak in daily life, when to use polite or casual language, and the cultural context behind common expressions. As a current student myself, I also know how to study effectively and stay motivated when learning gets challenging.
I take every lesson seriously. I come prepared, adapt to your level and goals, and give honest, constructive feedback so you can see real progress. Whether you’re starting from hiragana or preparing for the JLPT, I’ll be patient, encouraging, and committed to helping you succeed.
