About David

I have an MS in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley. Although I started my career designing computer chips, I found my true passion as an engineering instructor. I have been developing and teaching engineering workshops and coaching presentation and public speaking skills for over 30 years. I’ve coached countless elementary- through college-aged students as well as adult professionals using my unique and fun “lightning feedback” method. I’ve helped even the shyest and driest speakers become joyful, passionate, and engaging presenters.

About the lesson

Whether this is your first time presenting, or you're a seasoned professional looking to polish your skills, whether you’re presenting to 2 people or at a conference of 2,000 people, I can help you “WOW” your audience!

The initial free 30 minute phone or or online intro session is an opportunity for me to learn about your specific circumstances, what your public speaking goals are, explain my coaching method, answer your questions, and create a plan for the first full session. Time permitting we can also start working during this intro session.

At the start of our session you’ll begin presenting. Within the first few minutes I’ll assess your skills and what areas need improvement. Then we’ll start tackling the most important skill first, the one with the biggest bang for the buck, using my focused-but-fun proprietary lightning feedback approach! Once you’ve mastered that skill, we move on to the next, and so on. Most people experience dramatic improvements in the first hour, and often, this is all you need! You decide if you want more sessions.

If applicable, we’ll also work on improving your presentation material itself. My coaching method is custom-tailored to your presentation style and skill level.

Awesome lesson today, Will! You gave a "tell me about yourself" speech. Initially you were very monotonic, displaying hardly any "body language". You quickly absorbed and incorporated ALL the feedback I gave you, including hand gestures, pauses, and punching up key words! We practiced these techniques over and over and you kept getting better and better!
I look forward to our next session. We'll continue with the "tell me about yourself" speech. Practice it, give yourself some single-word notes, if needed.
