About Marie
As a prizewinner in multiple arenas I have many notable awards, including Gold in the Scholastic Art and Writing and a victory in the John Locke Essay Competition.
But those are just resume filler. My real expertise comes from my four years of experience as an art and writing tutor for people from ages 5 to age 18. As a young writer, I struggled focusing my story, formatting, and generally making something interesting to read. One of my teachers even described my stories as "Abysmal" when I was younger. Really! So when students come to me feeling frustrated or confused, I understand perfectly. It doesn't matter what's wrong with your writing, because trust me, I've probably been there. And that's how I know exactly how to help you.

Every first lesson I have is an assessment. I listen to your goals in writing and read a sample of your current work (or review your SAT/PSAT score ) and assess your strengths and weaknesses based on what you want to achieve. These will be printed out in a report and sent back to the student ( you).
Following lessons take these goals step-by-step. Each lesson will have a goal for the day ( such as improving one's comprehension for the English SAT section), including examples from known literature and me, as well as dynamic practice for the student. Each lesson will end with a task to assess completion of the goal. Improvement will be tracked and reported, so you know where you're at at all times.
If students want rapid progress, I also send them home with extra practice and additional sources for learning.
