About Sebastian
I am a violin tutor with over seven years of experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Historical Performance with a focus on Baroque violin. My greatest joy is working with young children and helping them develop strong ear training skills from an early age. I use playful and age-appropriate strategies to make learning fun and engaging. Storytelling, rhythm games, and movement are all part of my lessons. We learn simple melodies that build technique while keeping the imagination alive. I draw from Suzuki and Kodály inspired methods to create a well-rounded musical foundation. My students learn to listen carefully and respond to music with their whole bodies. I believe that a strong musical ear is the key to becoming a confident violinist. My lessons are filled with joy, creativity, and positive encouragement. Every child progresses at their own pace in a supportive environment. I love seeing my students discover the magic of making music with their own hands. My teaching methodology is systematic, building strong visual to finger coordination for rapid reading. We will work on sight-reading for violin, understanding ledger lines, and navigating complex rhythms with ease. I help you read multi-part scores so you can follow along in ensemble settings. My approach breaks down each piece into manageable sections, making new music less intimidating. We practice reading exercises daily to build speed and accuracy. You will learn to recognize patterns and anticipate what comes next in the music. This is especially valuable for students who need to learn new pieces quickly. I support learners in developing the skills to pick up any piece of music and play it instantly. We also work on connecting what you see on the page to where your fingers need to go. My lessons are practical and focused on real progress. You will leave each session feeling more confident in your reading abilities. My goal is to help you play new pieces with ease and enjoyment.
