About Farhana
I have over 9 years of experience teaching chemistry, with a strong focus on atmospheric chemistry and environmental pollution. My background in MChem has allowed me to combine deep scientific knowledge with a practical understanding of global environmental challenges. Over the years, I have helped students grasp the complex processes that shape our atmosphere and impact human health and ecosystems. A major part of my teaching involves explaining smog formation and its role in urban air quality. I guide students through the mechanisms of ozone depletion, connecting molecular-level reactions to large-scale environmental effects. Acid rain and its destructive impact on ecosystems and infrastructure are discussed with both scientific detail and real-world context. I also emphasize the chemistry of greenhouse gases, highlighting how they contribute to climate change and why this knowledge is vital for future solutions. I have worked with environmental science students, pre-policy learners, and those interested in air quality management. My approach blends chemical theory with case studies, helping students see the link between chemistry and environmental decision-making. I encourage learners to analyze data, interpret patterns, and think critically about sustainable strategies. Many of my students have gone on to pursue careers in environmental science, climate policy, and sustainability fields. For me, teaching is not just about formulas and reactions—it is about understanding how chemistry interacts with the world we live in. Each lesson is designed to inspire curiosity while building a strong scientific foundation. By connecting atmospheric processes to everyday life, I ensure that students see the relevance of what they learn. The greatest joy comes from guiding learners to not only understand the chemistry of our atmosphere but also to feel empowered to protect it for future generations.

My teaching approach in chemistry is built around making laboratory concepts simple and useful for students who want to connect theory with practice. I focus on both core principles and the skills needed to apply them in real-world experiments. By using a relaxed and application-focused style, I help students feel confident as they explore complex methods step by step.
I place special emphasis on analytical chemistry and its role in modern research. Topics such as spectroscopy, including NMR, IR, and UV-Vis, are explained with clear examples that show how they are used in real experiments. Chromatography and quantitative analysis techniques are introduced in a way that highlights their practical value in identifying and measuring compounds. This makes the lessons not just academic, but directly useful for laboratory work.
I support learners who wish to grow their skills in specialized fields by guiding them through the careful use of laboratory techniques. My lessons combine instrumental analysis with case studies, making learning both interactive and engaging. I also use problem-solving exercises that reflect real data from experiments, so students learn how to interpret results like a professional. By connecting chemical methods to actual scientific work, I help students find their strengths, build confidence, and succeed. Let’s make chemistry not just a subject to study, but a tool to excel in your lab and future career.
