About Sanelisiwe

I’m a SACE-registered teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education specialising in Geography, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand. I’ve taught Geography to learners from primary through to Grade 12, covering everything from map work and climate systems to case studies and exam preparation. Geography has always been the subject that helped me make sense of the world around me, and I love helping students get that same “aha” moment — whether it’s finally understanding how to read a contour map or connecting a case study to something happening in the news. What drew me to teaching was seeing how much a student’s confidence changes once a subject stops feeling like a mystery and starts feeling manageable.

About the lesson

My lessons follow a clear structure: we start each session by reviewing what you already know and identifying exactly where the confusion lies, rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all starting point. From there, I break the topic down into manageable steps, using diagrams, maps, real-world examples, and past exam questions to make abstract concepts concrete.

Every lesson ends with a quick recap and a small task to reinforce what we covered, so progress builds steadily rather than getting lost between sessions. What sets my approach apart is that I don’t just teach the content — I teach you how to think through Geography problems, so you can apply the same logic independently in tests and exams, not just memorise facts for one topic. I’m patient and adjust my pace to you: if something needs extra time, we take it, and if you’re moving quickly, we push further. Lessons can be conducted in English or isiZulu, depending on what makes you most comfortable learning. Whether you need help keeping up with schoolwork, catching up after falling behind, or pushing for top marks, I’ll tailor each session to what you specifically need.

Details

Sessions are 1 hour long. Online lessons are conducted via video call; in-person lessons are available within a reasonable distance of Halfway Gardens, Midrand, with a small travel fee applicable for locations further out (discussed and agreed before booking).

Cancellations or reschedules require at least 24 hours’ notice; late cancellations or no-shows may be charged in full. Package rates (5-hour and 10-hour bundles) must be paid upfront and are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase. The first 30 minutes of an initial lesson are free, so we can make sure it’s a good fit before committing to a full session or package.
