About Kate
I began playing flute and saxophone in Primary School thanks to a very inspiring music teacher we had at the time who needed up playing with me at my wedding. In high school music gave me a place to fit in and excel and I played in all the bands on offer and completed VCE Solo Performance on Flute. I then went on to do music part time playing in local theatre productions and teaching at a variety of music schools and primary and secondary schools where I began to learn Clarinet, Piccolo etc. After having a long break having my son I'm currently teaching in schools, from my home, as well as studying for my AMEB Certificate of Performance and AMus on Flute and Playing in the Westernport regional concert band. My knowledge of teaching disabled students comes from my qualifications as a Horse Riding for the Disabled level 1 instructor which I have done for 19 years. I also worked as a teachers aid at a special school for 3 years, have taught many neurodiversity music students and have many wonderful Autistic family members and friends.

I believe music lessons should be personalized to suit each individual student and their goals and learning style. Music should be really fun to learn and I like to inspire new musicians to enjoy their music. I have many adaptive methods of teaching students so that everyone can have the chance to progress and learn. I teach a wide variety of musical styles depending on the students preferences from classical and jazz to current pop, rock, movie themes etc. I also offer traditional music lessons with classical techniques and music reading and students can sit for AMEB examinations if the wish to. I always offer a free trail lesson with no obligations so feel free to book one in and see if we would be a good fit.
