About Joel
I'm Joel, a 16-year-old Maths tutor based in Wolverhampton. I've just completed my GCSEs with predicted Grade 9s across all subjects, and I completed A-level Maths ahead of schedule with a predicted A*. That means I have a genuine passion for the subject, and know these syllabuses inside out; therefore, unlike many tutors, I actually remember what it's like to be in the exam hall facing these questions, because I've just been there myself.
I'm patient, friendly and genuinely enthusiastic about Maths. I believe any student can improve with the right support and explanation, and I make it my goal to make sure every student leaves a session feeling more confident than when they arrived

My sessions typically run for 60 minutes, though I'm happy to adjust depending on the student's age and needs. I don't believe in just working through textbook exercises from start to finish. Every session begins with understanding exactly where the student is struggling and why, then we work through the concept step by step until it genuinely makes sense, not just for the test but long term.
I adapt my approach to each individual student - some respond well to visual methods, others prefer worked examples or practice under timed conditions. If one explanation isn't landing, I'll find another way to get there.
My lessons are best suited for KS3 students in Years 7–9 building strong foundations, GCSE students in Years 10–11 targeting Grades 6–9, and A-Level students aiming for the A-A*. I'm particularly well placed to help students who find Maths daunting or have gaps from earlier years. Sessions are available in person across Wolverhampton or online.
