About Mena

Why Work With a Master Educator?

30+ Years NYC Secondary Classroom Experience: Certified 7–12 ELA Specialist with an M.A. in British & American Literature.

Higher Education Teaching Background: Adjunct English faculty experience at Westchester Community College, Monroe University, and The College of New Rochelle.

12 Years in College Essay Coaching: Deep expertise in helping high school seniors bridge the gap between secondary writing and college-level storytelling.

I don't just proofread—I teach students how to identify their authentic voice, structure compelling narratives, and craft essays that capture the attention of college admissions officers.

About the lesson

* 4-Session Package ("Story & Outline"): Strategy, topic selection, structural outlines, and initial drafting.

* 8-Session Package ("Full Application Suite"): Brainstorming, drafting, polishing, and refining main essays + supplemental essays.

With 15 years of experience guiding students into top schools, I specialize in drawing out the stories that matter most. Balancing craft and strategy, I will help you to brainstorm, refine, and polish essays that capture your authentic voice and stand out to admissions officers.

My focus is on what students say as well as what they don’t. I help them uncover the small, powerful stories that reveal who they are and then help them sharpen those essays until they’re compelling, authentic, and impossible for admissions officers to ignore.

A strong college essay shouldn’t sound like everyone else’s, which is why I've been able to help students gain entry to schools such as Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, and NYU. Work with me to draw out your best ideas and turn them into essays that win.

Mena can hone in on a student’s strengths and weaknesses quickly, and share her insights with the student in a way that is warm, encouraging, and effective. She has helped my son improve his critical thinking and writing skills, which has in turn boosted his confidence and ability to express himself in all areas beyond school. I can’t recommend Mena highly enough!
