About Tracey
Self-proclaimed teaching nerd. I love teaching, love improving my craft, love learning, and love helping people. I have a bachelor's degree, master's degree, and specialist degree in education. I have a reading and ESOL endorsement. I have 25 years experience as a classroom teacher, and many years as a tutor, camp leader, team leader, and I work for a local university to help prepare student teachers for their future.

I believe in building in success for fragile learners to keep learners motivated and improve their self-esteem as they learn something challenging. I focus on the foundational skills of phonemic awareness, phonics, encoding, decoding, and use the texts we read to improve language skills, vocabulary, and comprehension.
A typical lesson will include letter/sound drills (fast-paced and fun), reading words below, at, and above the learner's level, 1 text per lesson, and a response to the text in writing.
These lessons are designed for beginning readers. I work with children beginning at age 3 and have worked with adults who needed to learn to read and write. I treat all people with respect and believe all people have the right to be literate.
