About Krystal
Hi, I'm Krystal. I have spent over 20 years working in HR and leadership roles across federal agencies, nonprofits, and private companies, but literature has always been my first love.
I hold a B.A. in English Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing from Bowie State University and an M.A. in Business and Executive Leadership from Liberty University, and I have spent years homeschooling my own children, giving me real, hands-on experience helping students fall in love with reading and writing, not just memorize facts for a test.
I tutor because I believe every student has something worthwhile to say about the books they read. My job is to help them find the words and the confidence to say it well.

Literature comes alive through conversation, not lecture. I use close reading paired with open discussion, asking questions that push students to form and defend their own understanding.
My lessons start with a check-in, then move into passage analysis, essay structure, or themes, always with the student thinking out loud. Years of homeschooling my own children and coaching adults through leadership training give me real, hands-on teaching experience and honest, direct feedback.
I work well with middle and high school students on literary analysis and essay writing, plus homeschool students and adult learners revisiting literature for enrichment or professional growth.
