About Jocelyn
I am a bilingual ESL tutor, fluent in both English and Spanish. I grew up speaking no English and began learning it in kindergarten, while my parents, who are from Mexico, maintained our Spanish at home. This personal experience gives me a deep understanding of the challenges language learners face. With over seven years of teaching experience and a master’s degree in English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD), I provide engaging, personalized lessons that build confidence, improve communication, and help students achieve their language goals.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
I use a student-centered, communicative approach to teaching English as a Second Language. Lessons focus on real-world language use, combining speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. I incorporate interactive activities, role-playing, games, and multimedia resources to make learning engaging and meaningful. I also adapt lessons to each student’s proficiency level, learning style, and goals, whether for academic, professional, or everyday communication purposes.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up (5–10 minutes): Conversation starters or review of previous lesson.
Vocabulary and Grammar (10–15 minutes): Introduce new language structures and practice through examples.
Skill Practice (15–20 minutes): Speaking, listening, reading, or writing exercises tailored to the student’s needs.
Application Activity (10–15 minutes): Real-life scenarios, role-plays, or writing tasks to reinforce learning.
Review and Feedback (5–10 minutes): Summarize key points, correct errors, and set goals for the next session.
