About Stokes
Playing music by ear defines my life. Fiddle tunes live in the air. I have spent 13 years sharing this craft with kids, absolute beginners, and grade exam candidates who want to move beyond the page.
Intermediate learners and performance-focused students often come to me to find a more natural flow. My BA Folk Music provides the foundation for this oral approach. Sometimes I find myself just listening to the breeze.

Starting with a free trial lesson helps us gauge your current level. It is strange how little the sheet music matters when you finally hear the rhythm yourself.
We focus on left hand agility, double stops, and bowing technique to build your confidence. Tone production and vibrato become second nature once you stop thinking about the mechanics of the instrument. I help classical players loosen up by introducing ornamentation through imitation.
You can expect to learn by listening and repeating until the melody feels like your own. Reach out whenever you are ready to play.
