About Justina
I am a former CNA and Teacher. I have had experience with children off and on within the span of about 10 years. I started at age 20 working with the Sunday School class at my church. Then, I began babysitting for one of my mom’s students in 2016. Simultaneously, I started a job working at an aftercare center, Discovery of Learning in August 2016 for kindergarteners. Then, in 2019 I began working at the Hope Lutheran aftercare Center in Palm Desert with the K-10th grade. I worked as an ABA therapist in 2023 while waiting to receive my CNA card. I finished and received my CNA which allowed me to work at the Desert Regional Medical Center in 2024. In 2025, I started tutoring on the side for Club Z.

Reading and Literature
• The first step begins with assessing where the student falls within the framework. Sometimes, a child is 2nd grade level in reading and 3rd grade level in math.
• I encourage the student to focus on details about the book: author, illustrator, setting, conflict, resolution, characters… It is important for the child to write an outline of notes based on the passages they read, for retention and comprehension
• Based on the grade level of the student, we will focus on building their weak areas (spelling, grammar, etc.) with the strong areas.
