I spent 25 years in China, where I started three successful businesses; and in 2018 returned to Canada, where I started my fourth. I've been a consultant to numerous Fortune 500 companies (Siemens, P&G, Dell, and more); and spoken about leadership and entrepreneurship at many events. I have also founded and run multiple 'mastermind' groups that helped both beginner and experienced entrepreneurs to be more successful.

CLASSES WILL BE EVERY SATURDAY AT 4:00pm PACIFIC TIME (7:00pm EASTERN TIME)
I am a firm believer in the 'pay it forward' philosophy...the success that I've enjoyed has been a direct result of others who helped me, so I in turn want to help a new generation to be successful!
These classes are intended for two groups -- high school students, and university students. Classes are dynamic and interactive, relying heavily on the Socratic method...which means that I focus more on asking questions to get you thinking of answers, rather than spoon-feeding answers to you. I have a strong focus on teaching critical thinking skills...I don't teach you "what to think" (memorizing answers I give you, then regurgitating them on a test), but rather "how to think" (how to evaluate your own ideas, and ideas from others, and come to your own conclusions).
There will be a great deal of small group work, splitting you up into 'teams' that will compete with each other in various tasks and assignments. The focus is on creating miniature versions of REAL LIFE experience, developing practical skills that will help you be successful later in life.
FAILURE will be a part of this course. Just as FAILURE is a part of life. You'll learn how to face failure, learn from failure, and overcome failure. Which, in the long run, will bring you success!
Classes will generally follow this format:
1) Present a particular principle, and have discussion about it
2) Assign a task, and divide you into 'teams' that will work together on each task
3) When finished, each team will present their results
4) Presentations will be evaluated both by the instructor, and by other students, giving both positive and negative feedback.
5) There are no grades; instead, each team will be ranked in order of success.
As we progress, tasks will become increasingly difficult and complex, building on the things you've learned and practiced previously. By the end, you'll be preparing business plans, giving pitches to get investment, and more.
PLEASE NOTE -- All work done will be theoretical, you will NOT be starting actual businesses as part of the course; and most importantly, I absolutely will NOT be offering investment or any other kind of financial support for business ideas.
