About Jose

I was born in Guatemala and lived there for the first 30 years of my life. Being from a small country in the middle of The Americas means that I grew up watching cartoons from Spain. And Japanese shows dubbed in Mexico. "Novelas" also from Mexico, but sometimes from Colombia, and Venezuela too.

I grew up listening to pop music from Spain and Mexico. Salsa, bachata, and merengue from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Cuba. And unforgettable rock anthems from Argentina.

There's so much that the Spanish speaking world has to offer.
- The overflowing passion of Shakira's first albums.
- Magical stories from Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
- Life changing philosophical gems from Facundo Cabral.
- Genius comedy performance from Les Luthiers.

And so much more!

This is my goal: For you to be part of this world and be able to experience all of these things!

About the lesson

For the beginners: Spanish is a phonetic language, meaning words are pronounced the way they are spelled. We will take advantage of this fact and build a solid foundation of reading and pronunciation that will give you the confidence to take on more challenging second phase: conjugation.

For the medium level: We will evaluate your specific situation and focus on reinforcing your current level before jumping into higher difficulties.

For the ones traveling to [INSERT COUNTRY NAME]: If your goal is to learn a specific dialect of Spanish you have half the battle already won. We will still cover the basics but we'll heavily lean on the specific branch of Spanish you are interested in first.

For all levels: Lessons will go for an hour. Longer or shorter lessons can be accommodated as we go. Practice will be an essential part of each session, even from the beginning.

You'll be challenged out of your comfort zone regularly. Learning a new language is supposed to be frustrating, it is literally rewiring your brain! But worry not, we are in this together.
