About Simran

I'm a student of Sociology, English Literature & History from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. I have previous teaching experience with underprivileged children at Urja, Seva Sahyog Foundation. I'm also a podcast host, performance poet and writer! Looking forward to you! My area of interest, as you will see quite clearly from my profile, is the social impact sector. Most of my experience lies in either education or socio-economic upliftment programs. In my previous role at FEELL, I worked alongside my team to ensure younger, perhaps even more ambitious Gen Z'ers as myself get the opportunity and resources to access top global leadership positions. Through my recent roles, I have enabled 14–16-year-old adolescents to make informed choices about their careers and provide consistent mentorship and guidance along the way. I am instrumental in providing them the tools and resources to access alternate learning systems -- to truly see the impact education can make in their lives. Through my year-long Social Research Dissertation Projects, I have also turned my gaze towards society at large and its structures & systems. I conducted extensive, ethnographic research into the lives of interfaith couples in India in one of my projects and gained tremendous insight. My dissertation was ranked the highest in my class. At college, I have also been instrumental in increasing inclusivity on campus for LGBTQ+ youth and people with disabilities, and also both. I was the Core Committee Event Co-Head of the Student Inclusion Cell. In my other interests, I enjoy poetry and have been an avid writer and reader all my life. I was shortlisted at the Kommune Spoken Festival for Spoken Word Poetry out of 1000s of participants across India. I have also been featured in various anthologies for my short stories and poems, one of them being Untold. I have won Gold at numerous inter-collegiate festivals' poetry competitions and have been performing on stage for the past two years.

About the lesson

I ease my students into the subject by allowing them to think critically on their own. I will start my session with asking the student's opinion/ knowledge about the topic and then move onto the theoretical aspect of it. If you are passionate about learning, growing and connecting with a like-minded individual, here is the chance! My classes will follow a no-fear approach -- I am not interested in rote-learning or learning just for the heck of it. I am invested in helping you achieve your goals and full potential!
