About Riche

Hi I'm Riche, I own a Yamaha Maple Custom 4 piece acoustic Drum kit with Zildjian and Istanbul Cymbals and a Black Panther snare. I also own a Roland TD12 Digital kit which has 52 preset drum kit sounds within its brain and have programmed several new kits into it for various different tracks that I have produced. Therefore I've got more kits to play than an entire showroom! Additionally I have Pioneer CDJ 3000 nexus decks, mixer and sound system, guitars, amps, bass, piano and percussion instruments at my home/Studio. I'm a single dad. My son, Cassius, is 7 years old and his feet nearly touch the pedals now! I have worked at the National theatre for 18 years and have been involved in hundreds of productions. There is nothing more rewarding than music. Well, that's my opinion anyway!

About the lesson

I play a right handed kit but happen to be left handed so I can cater for anyone at any level at any age. I can adapt my technique to suit whatever it is you're looking to learn. I have a digital kit and an acoustic kit at my home plus all manner of percussive equipment from gogo bells to gongs! If you're already familiar with drumming or have never even struck a single beat I can coach you up at the pace that works for you. Any style any tempo. any genre (within reason). I'm by no means Buddy Rich or Dave Grohl but I learnt by listening to all sorts of music and just played along under the sound and just tried to copy what I heard. I am self taught. I followed the Prodigy Experience beat for beat when I was a little lad and never looked back. It's the most rewarding feeling in the world. I've played festivals, clubs, pubs, theatres, street parties, cabarets, weddings, all sorts of events and the thing is, it never gets tiring! Being a drummer requires bundles of energy, enthusiasm, focus, patience and commitment but once you get the rudiments down and you catch that first hook it turns into pure joy. When it happens and you feel it inside it becomes so easy! I treat any practice or lesson like a workout. It's kind of an extension of dancing. If you're not Happy and sweaty by the end of a session then it's not for you. I can guarantee you this, it's super fun! More fun than the violin for example (Sorry to the violinists out there) It's the best feeling in the world when you lay down a new rhythm or nail that fill. The drum is the mother of all music after all, It's the heartbeat of the band. you are the life and soul of the party. I have taught many people over the years and I have learnt along with them. I am flexible with the length of the lesson and times/days provided we don't disturb the neighbours!
