About Pearl

Hi! I am Pearl Oparah, an American Sign Language (ASL) tutor committed to making communication more inclusive, accessible, and empowering for everyone. I specialize in teaching ASL to beginners—whether you're a student, teacher, parent, or professional—through clear, engaging, and personalized lessons. My passion for ASL comes from years of using it informally and helping others appreciate the beauty and usefulness of sign language in daily life. I believe that learning ASL shouldn’t feel intimidating or overly technical. My teaching style is patient, visual, and practical—focused on helping you feel confident signing in real-life situations. Each session is carefully structured to introduce new vocabulary, reinforce previous learning, and build your skills step by step. Whether you're learning for school, work, family, or personal growth, I aim to create a welcoming learning space where questions are encouraged, progress is celebrated, and lessons are tailored to your needs. Lessons are available online or in person (Port Harcourt), and can be adapted for individuals, small groups, or schools.

About the lesson

My lessons in American Sign Language (ASL) are structured to provide a solid foundation in both vocabulary and expressive skills. Each session introduces key concepts such as the ASL alphabet, numbers, basic conversational phrases, and thematic vocabulary (e.g., family, emotions, school). Lessons are paced to suit each learner’s goals and comprehension level, with emphasis on clarity, cultural context, and practical usage. Instruction is delivered online or in person (Lagos), and is suitable for individuals, small groups, or schools seeking to promote inclusive communication.
