About Josh

I have had my CFA charter for a few years now and hold a Bcom from McGill in Finance and Accounting. I have worked in various aspects of the finance industry over the past years.

I am definitely a finance nerd there is no doubt about it. I knew I wanted to be in finance while I was in high school, so if you were like that I relate to you. If you think it is just the devil's chocolate, I can help you. If you are trying to start the next Ponzi scheme or crisis please do not.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I have always been interested in finance. I was the kid paper trading stocks in grade school and talking about Warren Buffet. Being able to understand and work with and in the world and language of finance is an extremely helpful life and career skill to have.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I just enjoy working with numbers and working with money. Finance forces you to explore outside of your area of expertise. To understand finance you have to understand the underlying business you are working with at a very deep level.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I enjoy seeing my clients grow and develop in their chosen areas of learning. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a client grasp a new concept or get an A on a exam or assignment. Whatever I can do to help my students understand and overcome the challenges they need to overcome I will do.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
I had many great teachers, mentors and professors over the years. It would be so hard to just name one. I definitely recall receiving sage guidance and wisdom for my high school accounting teach and various university finance professors.
What are your keys to success?
Practice problems! Practice problems! Practice problems! Nothing helps more than that. I also find using real-life examples helps individuals understand better. Whenever a client can relate what is on the page to something in the financial news or markets a stronger connection to the material can be built.
