About Ralph

I've been tutoring on the side for approximately 8 years, helping students from 11+ level through to university achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their abilities.

I'm patient, friendly, and approachable, I believe that confidence is just as important as knowledge, so I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual, helping students develop understanding, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.

For parents' peace of mind, I hold the appropriate DBS checks and maintain a professional, reliable approach in all my lessons. My goal is for every student to leave feeling more confident, motivated, and capable than when they started.

About the lesson

I've been tutoring for over 8 years, working with students of different ages, abilities, and learning styles. From 11+ preparation through to university-level engineering, I've found that the most effective lessons are always tailored to the individual.

I take the time to understand your goals, current level, and preferred way of learning, then adapt my teaching style to suit you. Whether you're preparing for the 11+, GCSEs, A-Levels, university exams, or tackling challenging coursework, I focus on building genuine understanding and confidence rather than simply memorising content.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are interactive, supportive, and paced to meet your needs. I use clear explanations, guided problem-solving, and targeted practice to help students develop both knowledge and independent learning skills.

I teach:

11+ preparation
GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics
BTEC Engineering
Undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering students
CAD, design projects, coursework, and technical problem-solving

My aim is to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, overcoming challenges, and reaching their full potential.

I would highly recommend Ralph. He taught my daughter Maths, VR and NVR in preparation for her 11+ exams, and we were extremely pleased with his approach. His teaching technique was excellent; he had a wonderful way of breaking down difficult concepts, explaining them clearly and helping her feel calm and confident so she could fully understand and grasp the material.

Beyond the subject itself, he also worked on developing her exam technique, teaching her how to approach questions in a more structured and organised way. His patience, dedication and ability to build her confidence made a real difference. We are truly grateful for all his support and I would definitely recommend him to any parent looking for an outstanding tutor.
