About Charles

I'm a circus teacher who has been learning circus skills since 2009 and teaching since 2013! I've taught mostly at my summer camp but have been fortunate enough to work at my local renisance fair and community center. My specialty is juggling (clubs, balls, scarfs, rings, passing, ect.) but I have experience in teaching all the following:

rolling/walking globe (not a yoga ball!), devil/flower sticks, diablo/chinese yoyo, unicycle, tightrope, cigar boxes, hoola hoops, rolla bolla/balance board, hand stilts, poi, walking spool, improv/clowning, kendama, spinning plates, and taking a circus pie to the face!

Some of those i only teach the basics (partially because they require real dedication/love to do more than just the basics) but I always have a couple tricks for individuals who are ready to dip their toes at an intermediate level, and when it comes to juggling Im proficient enough to help those ready for advance levels of training!

About the lesson

For my teaching aproach I like to focus on the fundamentals/core skills of the circus skill to better develop the muscles and mind so that said skill can be more easily achieved. A lot of my methods for teaching come from my personal experiences in what made it easier for me to understand and as I've worked with more people (both in teachers and students) I've been able to evole my style of teaching past the styles that I learned under. Another thing I like to remind anyone learning a new skill (circus especially) is that if it were easy, everyone would do it! My old teacher used to say "You wouldn't pay 50 dollars to watch someone make a PB&J!" and while you could argue that stifled any up and coming mukbang careers, the point he was trying to get across is that when you learn or preform skills like circus or other, it's no easy feat! It's important to find validation in being frustrated and allow yourself frequent breaks when you're having a hard time. I finally got some of the hardest tricks I can do after taking a break for as brief as 1 week all the way up to 1 month! Crazy, I know!

Perfect! Charles is nothing short of wonderful! Very patient, kind, and enthusiastic! I still take lessons with him and intend to do so for awhile! He loves what he does, and you can tell that from his caring nature as both an instructor and outstanding juggler!
