About Catherine
Business English and presentation skills are often learned best through quiet repetition rather than high pressure drills. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Education and a CELTA from the University of Toronto. 13 years of experience inform my work with newcomers in Toronto and Vancouver. Providing structure for immigrants and university applicants remains my primary focus.
You will find that I emphasize reading comprehension and accent reduction as parts of a larger whole. Grammar foundations are simply the mechanics under the hood. Practice happens.

You will find that our time together focuses on everyday conversation before we touch complex business scenarios. 13 years of teaching means I know how to break down difficult concepts into manageable chunks. Presentations and exam speaking practice become easier when we approach them with a song or a dialogue.
This environment reflects a community center workshop where students feel safe to make mistakes. Reading comprehension exercises are integrated into our regular flow.
