About Delena

I have studied music for over 15 years and am constantly learning new things as I develop my own instruments, create, and teach music. I began with classical and contemporary studies, theory, and ear training for voice and piano. By the time I reached my RCM grade 8/9 in piano, I decided to add jazz and modern music to my repertoire. My musicality, skill, and years of development got me accepted to the Bachelor of Music program at MacEwan University where I majored in Voice and Performance. These were some of my most exciting years of music study! My time spent rehearsing, performing, composing, arranging, creating, (and more) has transformed me as a musician, influenced my personal practice, and has improved the way I teach music. Since I've graduated, I've focused on teaching students voice and piano, performing around my city, composing music for various projects, and immersing myself in all the music and art that I can!

About the lesson

With a background in classical, jazz, and contemporary music,
I offer a unique perspective and a balanced approach in my teaching. The foundation of my teaching practice is the development of well-rounded musicians. I put a lot of focus on creating engaging ways for students to develop their music comprehension, listening skills, strength, stamina, and style. My goal is to equip my students to be able to sing, play, and even create any style of music they'd like and reach their individual goals. I include techniques to keep the mind and body healthy as a musician as well. I teach students ranging from beginner to intermediate for piano, and beginner to advanced for voice and theory. I offer both weekly lessons and specialized audition/performance/studio preparation lessons.
