About Zoe
ESL is part of a sixteen-year tutoring career during which I have taught 820 students across a genuinely wide range of ages, confidence levels, and starting points in learning English. My background includes strong formal training combined with a real, personal enthusiasm for making language learning feel like an interesting exploration rather than an intimidating wall of rules. My teaching style is enthusiastic and conversational throughout, and I deliberately use humor to reduce the stress many students already associate with speaking a new language in public. I am especially drawn to working with students who feel they have fallen behind, since restoring genuine confidence is where I feel most effective.

My ESL lessons open with a genuine real world question or piece of curiosity before any formal explanation begins, since building curiosity first genuinely makes the following content feel far more approachable and memorable to a student. I lean heavily on Socratic style questioning throughout, guiding students toward their own conclusions through smaller guided questions rather than simply handing over ready made answers immediately. Sessions stay energetic and hands on, switching frequently between short focused explanation and active conversation practice to keep attention sharp during a lesson. I encourage students to predict how a sentence should be structured before we confirm it formally together, sharpening genuine intuition over time.
