About Ashley
ESL teaching is part of a seven-year tutoring career during which I have taught 310 students, many of them adults building new lives and needing practical daily English. My own understanding of the challenges involved developed through years of working closely with newcomers navigating a new country and language together. I keep my teaching relaxed and encouraging, since I understand how intimidating it feels to speak an unfamiliar language out loud in a new environment. Many students arrive worried about sounding foolish, and helping them relax into natural, confident speech is genuinely one of my favorite parts of teaching. I stay available between lessons for quick questions.

My ESL lessons focus on practical, everyday conversation from the very first session, since most students want to actually use English confidently at work or in daily life rather than simply pass a test. Grammar is introduced gradually through patterns noticed in real dialogue, and I revisit tricky structures naturally over several sessions instead of expecting instant mastery all at once. Vocabulary is grouped around real situations like work, healthcare, and daily errands, since personal relevance makes retention far stronger than abstract word lists. I share short voice recordings after each lesson so students can review pronunciation at their own pace. Every lesson closes with an unscripted conversation entirely in English.
